Xin Baoan Attended the 25th Conference of the Electric Power Supply Industry (CEPSI)

On October 29 (local time), Xin Baoan, Chairman of Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO) and President of China Electricity Council (CEC), attended the opening ceremony of the CEPSI in Singapore and delivered a speech. With the theme of "Empowering the Energy Transition," the CEPSI 2025 has brought together over 4,000 participants from the Asia-Pacific region, including government officials, heads of energy and power companies, representatives of international organizations, and technical experts.

Xin Baoan introduced China's achievements in green energy development. He said that China is an active promoter, contributor, and leader of global energy transition and climate governance. China has built the world's largest and fastest-growing renewable energy system, as well as the world's largest and most comprehensive new energy industry chain. China's installed capacity of clean energy has increased from 520 GW in 2015 to 2,200 GW at present, accounting for 59.5% of the total installed capacity. In the past two years, China has added about 400 GW of new energy each year, making up over 60% of the global increase, becoming a powerful green engine driving global energy transition. China has put 45 UHV AC/DC projects into operation, with voltages up to ±1,100 kV, enabling cross-region power transmission exceeding 400 GW. China has also built the world's largest new energy cloud platform, supporting the efficient operation of more than 6 million renewable stations. China actively provides high-quality clean energy products to the world. The wind power and photovoltaic equipment produced in the past five years have helped countries reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 4.1 billion tons, making important contributions to global green and low-carbon development.

Xin Baoan pointed out that the Asia-Pacific region is one of the world's most promising regions, thanks to its strong economic vitality, high energy demand, and rapid growth. However, the region faces such challenges as great pressure to ensure energy supply, a high proportion of fossil fuels, and uneven regional development. Building a Global Energy Interconnection that is clean-led, electricity-centered, interconnected, and smart will drive energy security, low-carbon transition, and inclusive growth across the region. It can enhance economic viability and reliability, and accelerate the transition to reliable clean energy. This initiative will also promote the thorough replacement of fossil energy with green electricity and power-to-hydrogen solutions and accelerate electrification across sectors. Moreover, it will enhance grid interconnection, upgrade grids through digital and smart technologies, and improve the efficient allocation of clean energy.

Xin Baoan called on all countries to jointly advance energy transition and sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region, stressing that this is in the shared interest of all. He proposed strengthening cooperation on interconnection, technology and industry development, rules and standards, and energy governance, so as to jointly build a green and low-carbon future for the region.

1030-122

The CEPSI is one of the largest and most influential events in the electric power sector in the Asia-Pacific region. It serves as an international platform for exchange and cooperation, promoting collaboration among members, sharing of expertise, in-depth dialogue, and partnership building. This year’s conference, held from October 28 to November 1, was hosted by Singapore Power Group, the current rotating chair of the Association of the Electricity Supply Industry of East Asia and the Western Pacific (AESIEAP). Key topics included grid innovation, low-carbon development strategies, application of artificial intelligence in the energy sector, sustainable power generation, and financing for energy transition.

1030-13

The CEPSI took place alongside the Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) 2025, held from October 27 to 31. During the event, GEIDCO Chairman Xin Baoan attended the SIEW Summit and related forums. He also met with Puah Kok Keong, Chief Executive of the Energy Market Authority of Singapore. The two sides held in-depth discussions and reached important consensus on advancing cross-border power interconnection in Southeast Asia and enhancing grid connectivity between Singapore and neighboring countries.
